Borneo Chic

Borneo Chic is a brand that emerged from the initiative of five Indonesian non-government organizations (NGOs) in 2008, aimed at promoting authentic indigenous crafts and sustainable livelihoods in Kalimantan. It serves as the marketing arm of Crafts Kalimantan, which supports indigenous artisans by providing them with fair prices for their woven products, thereby reviving traditional Dayak weaving traditions.

Borneo Chic combines traditional weaving techniques with contemporary designs to create modern handbags and other accessories, making it a platform for responsible trade and cultural heritage. The Borneo Chic collection draws from creations of over 300 Dayak artisans, most of whom are women living around the forests of Borneo. Natural materials often come from rattan, bamboo, fibers and natural dyes harvested sustainably from forests. Borneo Chic is a member of the Forum Fair Trade Indonesia. In 2017 the National Crafts Council of Indonesia awarded Borneo Chic for outstanding craft in the natural fiber category.
